Borgward
The Goliath 1100 was a model line that included sedans, wagons and light trucks in the mid-'50s to early '60s.  The "Express" was the light truck and car series. The company, Goliath Werke (part of Carl. F. W. Borgward GmbH., which included Lloyd Werke and Hansa Werke) produced many differnent types of automobiles, large trucks, and various other modes of transport, in addition to this little truck.  In 1961, under dubious circumcumstances the factory filed for bankruptcy and ceased operations.  Carl. F. W. Borgward died in 1963 from heart failure.

These trucks were second in terms of production behind Volkswagen at the time.
This  truck has a flat "boxer", 1.1 litre, four cylinder watercooled, front-mounted engine and was also front-wheel drive. It's output was roughly 40-60 Hp.

There were four to five versions of this truck (the fifth being custom).

Here's an article from a German magazine, Oldtimer Praxis (it's in German) and has a few, nice color photos of a person who has a wonderful Express flat-bed blue truck that looks almost new.
